I spent a 4 day adventure in downtown Denver eating and drinking my way through the city. Somehow, it reminded me of Godzilla laying waste to Tokyo.  This downtown gem is a food and drink lovers delight.  Consuming Denver was a celebration of great dining.

GUARD AND GRACE

This amazing Denver steakhouse was stop number one shortly after landing at DIA.  I had brought my appetite with me and I was ready to dine.  This establishment is an excellent modern steakhouse which has earned national recognition.  Having dropped in with no reservation we ended up choosing a table in the bar area of the establishment.  The hostess crew could not have been more helpful in assisting us.  They even walked us to a nice table they knew was available.

A signature cocktail from Guard and Grace is a barrel aged Old Fashioned.  This well blended concoction deserves its signature location on the cocktail menu. It will not disappoint.  Salads and sides were excellent with perfect presentation and attention to detail.  The crown jewel of the menu is  the steak.  This is a nationally renowned steakhouse after all, right?  There were 3 separate selections for a filet mignon, Prime, Angus, and Grass fed.  As if this was not enough for those who  cannot decide they offer a filet flight consisting of a 4 oz. portion of each of the three types.

This is simply a can’t miss stop in Denver.  The food and atmosphere are excellent.  Matching that is a level of service which leaves nothing to desire. Other establishments could learn from the service we experienced.  It was excellent even while sitting in the bar section of the restaurant.

SNOOZE AN AM EATERY

To begin the second day of the attack on Denver’s food and drink, we made our way to Snooze.  This outstanding breakfast stop located in Union Station is the perfect way to start the day.  (There are several locations in Colorado, California, Arizona, and soon Texas.)  When we arrived there was a wait for a table.  This is often a good sign.  It was fun killing the wait time in the old Union Station, a worthwhile stop on it’s own.  When our table was ready the fun began.  The atmosphere is energetic which helps to get the day started right.

The menu is extensive. Traditional breakfast favorites join creative items such as the Breakfast Pot pie.  There is something for everyone on the long menu.  Great coffee lead to delicious food. Everything was fresh and well prepared.  Our server was attentive despite being busy.  The portions are generous.  We had no need for lunch after such a great start to the day.
